The band that changed my life

Hello my friends, how are you doing? As you probably noticed my column isn't about learning English itself, but about falling in love with English language. Today I will talk about one band that rekindles the love that I've always had for the English language: Mumford and Sons.

Mumford and Sons is a British Folk-Rock band formed in 2007. When I first heard the band I was passing through a very critical moment in my life: I got to the point where I had to decide if I was going to give up my dreams of becoming an English Teacher, or if I would follow a different path.

The song was called "Hopeless Wanderer" (very appropriate, right?) and made me remember that I am not alone in my journey, that God is sharing my road. I will write an entire article about this song and what it represented to me and my dream of becoming an English Teacher, but for the moment let's focus on the band.

Marcus Mumford (leading guitar and vocals) is an inspired writer, and his lyrics are so deep, filled with emotion, and with a religious and literary background. That called my attention, and I started to listen to the band's songs from the albums "Sigh no more" and "Babel. Immediately I fell in love for ALL the songs. The passages from the Holy Bible and from Shakespeare Titles are so meaningful, charged with emotions, and mixed in a Folk Acoustic Style made me addicted in Mumford and Sons.

The problem was: I discovered the band too late! By the time I finished listening to the songs from the first two albums the band decided to take a considered, not defined, amount of time apart, what they called a "Hiatus". I was crushed, devastated!

Well, one year and six months later I am filled with excitement since last May 4th the band released their third album called: "Wilder Mind". The band changed its style, and is now more "Indie", and I can't wait to see how the album is going to look like. For sure I will do a review on it for you, my friends.

For now I recommend you to give the albums "Sigh no more" and "Babel" a shot, listen to the songs and read the lyrics so you can learn some words and feel involved by this great band.
